Wild Wadi Water Park in Dubai

Dubai is home to some amazing architecture, and it is where visions of the future are being brought into the present with ground breaking designs popping up all over the city. Perhaps most spectacular of all Dubai’s attractions though is the Wild Wadi water park, and this is why…

Dubai is hot, very hot! Temperatures between June and September soar to over 45°C, and even the sea temperature hits 40°C during this period. Add this to the fact that between May and October it would be very unusual to see a rain drop, and even during the ‘cooler’ part of the year it only sees perhaps an average of 15mm a month as an absolute maximum. This leaves you wandering where all the fresh water could possible come from, and how it keeps being replenished given the high evaporation rates!

Well, it is perhaps the most sophisticated water park ever made. Set over 12-acres of what was previously a desert, the Wild Wadi provides families and thrill seekers with an oasis in which to take refuge during the heat of the day, if your idea of a refuge is a 33m freefall reaching reaching 50 miles per hour! The park takes the form of an Arabian Wadi, which is basically an oasis, and it follows a ‘Juha’ theme which is a character from Arabian folklore, and gives the park that true ‘Theme park’ feel which really brings it all together nicely.

If you are an adrenaline junkie like me, you’ll be pleased to note that the park features some of the tallest and fastest water rides in the world, with 24 state of the art rides tailor made for thrill seekers. These include the Jumeirah Sceirah, a 33m freefall ‘slide’ mentioned earlier, the many Master Blasters which are effectively water baseds rollercoasters which propel you around using powerful jets,  the traditional Ring Slides which are a consistent favourite amongst children and adults alike and much more besides this.

All in all it is well worth a visit, and other than the luxury of an air conditioned living area, the park provides an alternative method of relief from the sweltering heat!
